The figure above shows the position and shape of the 6 extrinsic muscles located when the right eye is viewed from the front.
There are six muscles in the outer lining. There are four rectus muscles in the upper and lower left and right sides of the eyeball, and two oblique muscles in the upper and lower sides.
These muscles are responsible for eye movement.
